EU support for Israeli crimes makes it unworthy of Nobel Peace Prize
The EU was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in October 2012 despite its full support for wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The EU continues to support Israel's blockade of Gaza and its settlements in the West Bank. Its policies appear to have no consistency: it recently voted overwhelmingly to upgrade existing preferential trade links with Israel, having just published a list of their projects destroyed by the IDF.
The article by Omar Barghouti, published in the Electronic Intifada, exposes why this dichotomy exists.

West Bank (Beit Ula - Hebron District)
On 15 January 2008, the IDF sealed off a site targeted by the project in Beit Ula and to a great extent damaged all completed EC funded project outputs (uprooting of trees, destruction of cisterns and terraces, and levelling of land). This project which commenced in November 2005 and which has officially ended has been implemented by the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees (PARC), a prominent local Palestinian NGO, and as such is primarily aimed at alleviating poverty. The damaged site relates to two plots of land amounting to 64 dunnums, equivalent to 6.4 hectares, of land rehabilitated and reclaimed. According to EC estimates, in average, 1 hectare of land reclaimed represents an investment cost of € 10,000. This could be broken down between direct costs (machinery works, retaining walls, cisterns, fencing, and seedlings) amounting to € 8,500 and indirect costs (project management) amounting to €1,500. Emanating damages are preliminarily estimated at approximately € 60,400.
